Dorothy Kielkopf, VMD

Dr. Dorothy Kielkopf grew up around the country, her parents being in the army. She attended Penn State University and received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Geography. She worked with the government for a brief time, and then decided to return to school to receive her Veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1998. She has been practicing ever since, in the Puget Sound region.

“Being a Veterinarian, I feel I'm able to make a tangible difference in the lives of people and their pets. I left my government job because I saw no end to my work, but working with pets, I find a common ground with their owners because we both care for the same thing."

Helena is a PNW native, she joined our team in May 2019. She has had a care and passion for animals from as far back as she can remember. She decided to put that passion into reality when she obtained her certificate of veterinary assisting from Apollo College in Portland, OR in 2007. A 2016 graduate of Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences (with a focus in animal science) her goal was to bring a more caring focus to animals and helping guide and educate owners to build upon their already loving relationship with their four-legged companions. She has 2 cats, Priscilla, Mr. Stitches, and a sweet dog named Herman. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, doing puzzles, reading, and traveling the world to experience all it has to offer.

Crystal is a native of the beautiful Pacific Northwest and has been in Gig Harbor for over 30 years. Prior to joining the PetZen team, she spent 20 years working with children at a local pediatric medical office. Crystal has been at PetZen since November of 2018 and is excited to be involved in the expanding field of holistic veterinary medicine. "It never ceases to amaze me how much an alternative approach to pet care has improved and prolonged the quality of life for so many of our beloved fur babies!". Crystal has always had special compassion and unconditional love for animals and feels blessed to have the opportunity to work in an environment with them every day. Outside of work, Crystal is the mother of two adult sons and a geriatric lab named Jade. When she is not running the reception desk at PetZen she enjoys spending time with friends and family and also loves the challenge of a good crossword puzzle along with creating handmade greeting cards and personalized gift bags.
